MAINTENANCE: PRE & POST-INSTALL
Raw hair thrives with consistency, love and care. Without regular maintenance, it can become dry, tangled or matted.
Washing Recommendations:
- Co-wash 1-2 times a week (2-3 times if you sweat frequently)
- Avoid shampoo unless needed (for heavy buildup). Use sulfate-free shampoo only.
- Recommended: Tresemme moisture rich conditioner & shampoo
Extra Moisture Tips:
- Add a few drops of olive oil to your conditioner
- After air drying, apply Keratin-based leave-in conditioner, followed by Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Moroccan oil to seal in moisture and tame frizz
- For mild tangling, use CHI SILK INFUSION or Silk Elements MegaSilk
HOW TO CO-WASH EXTENSIONS (BEFORE INSTALLATION)
Step by step:
- Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and sulfate-free conditioner
- Let the hair soak in the conditioner for 15 minutes
- Gently detangle with a wide-tooth comb from end to weft
- Rinse with cool water to lock the moisture
- Air dry completely before installation
PREVENTING SHEDDING ON WEFTED HAIR
All extensions shed minimally but you can reduce shedding by following these tips:
- Do not cut your wefts if possible. If you must, seal the cut end
- Seal your weft before installing
- Sew around the weft not through them
- Fold wefts (double-track method) to avoid cutting and keep beards facing inward
BULK HAIR TIPS
- Always pull hair from the top (rubber band side)
- Never pull from the bottom, it inverts cuticles and causes matting
HOW TO CO-WASH LACE EXTENSIONS (WIGS, CLOSURES, FRONTALS)
Steps:
- Detangle gently while dry using a wide-tooth comb
- Soak in conditioner mixture (lukewarm water + conditioner) for 15 minutes. Do not scrub or massage
- Place on a towel and gently comb with conditioner still on
- Rinse with cool water to seal cuticles
- Air dry completely before brushing or styling
CARING FOR LACE BASE EXTENSIONS
- Be gentle, lace is delicate
- Avoid scratching with combs, pins or fingernails
- Skip bleaching knots, use concealer powder instead
- Use a knot sealant like Walker Top-Loc knot sealer
STYLING TIPS
- Always detangle from end to top using a wide-tooth comb
- Minimize heat use. Always use a heat protectant when styling
- Sleep with a satin bonnet or silk pillowcase to reduce friction and tangling
